Background
Early in 2000, company founder Kirk Carter saw the web as a better way to do business. Successful Web sites are attractive and functional, two characteristics that can be difficult to achieve in one product. Drawing from his training and experience in computer programming and television production, Carter founded Service First Webmasters, Inc. to create Web sites that sell.
In many web design companies, the least experienced employees do the bulk of the work. At SFW, we treat web projects as seriously as an engineering firm treats bridge projects. Seasoned professionals do the design and programming work, respond directly to client changes and concerns and guide staff in executing additional tasks.
As our portfolio shows, this formula has proven highly effective.
Principals
Kirk Carter
President Kirk Carter's accomplishments include a national award for television production, a patent on a method of designing cellular telephone base stations, and a published academic paper on indoor antenna theory.
He began programming in 1978, and has written artificial intelligence benchmarking routines for a parallel-processing architecture as well as software tools for cellular telephone network design and performance engineering. Kirk developed the method and coded the design tool for the first PCS band overlay of an originally 800 MHz cellular system in the US.
Kirk is also interested in electric vehicle technology. At the University of Central Florida, he developed an electronic dashboard for a test car that had been converted from diesel. This electronic dashboard provided information the driver needed to operate the vehicle most efficiently. The technology enabled the vehicle to win "Best Overall" and the endurance race at the Clean Air Grand Prix in 1994. (kirk@ServiceFirstWebmasters.com)
